About Space-Tray®
Space-Tray is an innovative solution for cable management that combines the benefits of a cable spacer and a cable tray. It provides efficient organization and accessibility for a large number of cables of various sizes and types, just like a cable tray. However, it can be installed similarly to cable spacers by being suspended from a messenger cable at uniform intervals along cable runs.
Space-Tray can be mounted on messenger cables, walls, ceilings, beams, etc. making it suitable for use in a variety of utility, industrial, construction and warehouse applications.
How does it work?
-
Space-Tray Modules have the capability to support a diverse range of wires, from 1.5mm x 4.5mm Fiber Optic (FTTH) up to 36mm diameter cables and everything in between - for LV power, cable TV, and telecom purposes. These modules can hold a mixture of different wire sizes and types or multiple wires of a specific size or type. This versatility is achieved through the use of an optional Insert System, enabling the Space-Tray Module to adapt to various wiring configurations. Custom designs can also be entertained as we do all design, engineering, mold-making and production in-house.
-
Because of its modular design and strong materials, a single Space-Tray attachment point has the capacity to support a substantial number of cables. Typically, these arrangements can run from a single large cable to dozens of small cables in each module, and typically up to six (6) modules in a set (more under some circumstances).
-
One of the defining features of Space-Tray is its ease of access to cables. The cables are kept in place within the modules by a hinged door that can be quickly opened by hand without the use of tools. To add or remove a cable, simply open the doors on the relevant modules, make the necessary changes, and then close the doors. This design significantly reduces maintenance time.
-
The uniform and modular design of Space-Tray provides a high degree of cable organization, similar to that of a cable tray. Additionally, there is an option for customers to add labels for better cable identification, enabling easy traceability throughout the system.
-
This is another of Space-Tray’s key features. You can simply clip on additional modules as needed to expand capacity on an installed system. Modules can be added singly or in pairs.
-
With a maximum spacing of 1.5 meters, typical static loads per attachment point are estimated to be between 5kgs (for example, 20 Lumex wires) to 15kgs. However, typhoon-force winds can temporarily increase these loads to levels ranging from 50-100 kgf. Space-Tray has been rigorously tested and shown to be capable of handling static loads exceeding 400 kgs in laboratory conditions.
-
Space-Tray is engineered to provide a minimum service life of 10 to 15 years in tropical climates with high UV levels and frequent typhoons. This durability is achieved through the use of high-quality specialty engineering plastics, reinforced with glass fiber and enhanced with UV inhibitors.
What we offer
The patented Space-Tray Aerial Cable Spacer system marks a new era in the management of small diameter cables (typically up to 36mm) for LV power, telecom, and cable TV applications, and can also accommodate larger systems. As the only product of its kind in the world, Space-Tray solves many long-standing challenges faced in managing large numbers of small cables in aerial environments. The key features and benefits of this innovative system are:
-
Space-Tray system allows for the use of standard cables, without built-in messengers, and without lashing wires, while reducing the total number of messenger cables required, resulting in substantial front-end cost reductions, and cost recovery in retro-fits.
The significantly reduced area required with properly bundled cabling also means that shorter crossarms can often be utilized, further reducing costs.
-
The organized grouping of multiple cables presents a much smaller surface area to high winds, resulting in a substantial decrease in wind loads on cables and poles. This reduction can range up to 70% or more, greatly reducing the risk of damage to cables and poles.
-
The nature of the system will greatly reduce dangling wires. Wires are supported throughout their entire length, and the risk of any wire getting cut is greatly reduced due to the protection afforded by bundling. Even if a wire does get damaged it :
• Cannot dangle far due to being captured in the clip system every 1.0-1.5 meters
• Can be readily identified as to the concerned provider by use of a color-coding system
• Can be rapidly removed/repaired due to easy access
-
Storing cables in a neatly organized and identifiable clip system makes it much easier to detect and rectify unauthorized tapping of wires.
-
With the reduction in wind loads, smaller physical footprint, reduced number of messenger cables, as well as increased accountability of the system (including elimination of unused cables), pole owners have the opportunity to increase revenue through increased available capacity .
-
Vastly improve the appearance of overhead cabling due to the neat, organized bundling of wires. Although not a direct cost savings component, the improvement to aesthetics will generate immeasurable goodwill among the general public (great CSR). This is the face your customers see first every day.
-
The system facilitates easy and precise identification and accounting of authorized (and unauthorized) cable attachments, enabling accurate audits and billing of users.
-
The system's functionality greatly decreases the time needed for maintenance tasks. With Space-Tray, you can:
• Quickly remove and replace wires with just a simple opening and closing of the clip system, eliminating the need for electrical tape, cable ties, scrap wire ties, cable lashing, etc.
• Clearly identify target wires thanks to the uniform arrangement in clips, plus labeling options.
• Easily expand installed systems by simply adding additional modules. Frequently no need for installing additional messenger cables.
-
• With large numbers of cables neatly contained within a small corridor, the work of trimming vegetation away from wires is greatly reduced
• The ability of branches and vines to intertwine with cables is also greatly reduced
• The strength of the combined cabling will also resist damage from branches and other flying debris much greater than loose wires can
-
• A single messenger cable can carry many more wires due to optimally shared loading
• No need for additional messenger cables or wires with integrated messenger cables for each additional wire added to an installation
• Compact cable runs can allow for shorter cross arms, further reducing stresses on poles.
-
The retrofitting installation of Space-Tray on existing cable systems will lead to the elimination of numerous unused cables, which can then be recycled for their valuable materials, creating job opportunities and reducing the cost of the system installation. The decrease in the number of messenger cables required for suspending existing wires can also result in a significant amount of recyclable steel cable.
-
The system design and material selection are tailored to withstand harsh tropical environments such as the Philippines, with extreme UV year-round and frequent 200+kph typhoon winds. Materials can be further customized for different environments to maximize utility.

Configuration Options
Space-Tray can be customized to suit the user’s specific requirements. If quantity requirements are small, then it’s best to select from existing module designs (single opening, 5x openings), however if desired we can prepare custom module designs. These can vary significantly to suit specialized requirements. Modifications can involve design (such as compartmentalization, dimensions, or special mounting arrangements), identification (such as colors or markings), or materials (to suit specific environments). Let us know your requirements and we will work with you to find the best solutions.
As modified designs involve the preparation of new molds and commensurate product testing, there are moderate lead times involved, as well as minimum order quantities. These will be quoted on a case-to-case basis.
